Position Description

Looking for a inpatient nurse practitioner  in a busy pulmonary/critical care/ sleep med practice. The position requires 40 hrs of weekday work and some weekends. The job description entails but not limited to the following:

    • Conduct thorough patient evaluations, including medical history, physical examinations, and review of diagnostic tests to identify pulmonary complications in critically ill patients. 
    • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans for complex pulmonary conditions like acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), pneumonia, pulmonary embolism, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) exacerbations. 
    • Monitor patients' vital signs, hemodynamic status, and respiratory function closely, making necessary adjustments to treatment regimens as needed. 
  • Diagnostic Procedures:
    • Order and interpret diagnostic tests such as chest X-rays, CT scans, pulmonary function tests, arterial blood gases, and bronchoscopy results. 
    • Assist physician in invasive procedures like thoracentesis and pleural biopsies under physician supervision when required. 
  • Therapeutic Interventions:
    • Initiate and manage ventilator support, including ventilator settings and weaning protocols. 
    • Administer medications, including critical care medications and respiratory therapies. 
    • Manage airway management issues, including tracheostomy care 
  • Collaboration and Communication:
    • Collaborate closely with attending physicians, other healthcare team members (nurses, respiratory therapists, pharmacists) to ensure coordinated patient care. 
    • Communicate patient status updates effectively to relevant healthcare providers and family members. 
    • Participate in multidisciplinary rounds and case conferences to discuss complex patient cases.
