The John Kazen, PA-C Student Scholarship
About The Scholarship
The Bexar County PA Society (BCPAS) is pleased to offer scholarship awards to PA students in the didactic and clinical phases of their PA Program. Four $500 awards will be given to students.
In January 2021, John Kazen, PA-C unexpectedly passed away. A graduate of the UTMB at Galveston's PA program at the young age of 19, John was dedicated to family practice medicine throughout San Antonio for over 43 years. He was among the first physician assistants to work in San Antonio and joined a solo family practice clinic. Throughout the course of his career, he dedicated his time to mentoring, guiding, and educating future advanced practice providers while serving as an associate professor for UTHSCSA PA Program and as a preceptor in family practice medicine at the University of Texas Rio Grande. John also volunteered his time at various organizations, including serving as vice president and treasurer of the Bexar County PA Society and an adviser to the American Academy of Family Practice Physician’s Assistants. He was dedicated to his patients, his profession, and his community. This scholarship ensures that his legacy will not be forgotten.
